Why should those earning more pay more local tax? Those earning more usually use less local resources. If old people don't like the council tax being based on the cost of their house - down size - move into something smaller. I tried hard at school and college, work hard and do not want children but see my wages going to subsidise those who are lazy, put no effort into their education or see breeding as a way of opting out of work.

I thoroughly agree that OfCom should not hamstring RNLI by unrealistic and opportunist price rises. Why is this vital service not at least part funded by the government?

As a mother and carer of a daughter who is now 21 and has little qualifications. I am grateful that you have signed this Bill even though I am from Kent. It is only now faced with looking for work my daughter is so upset for her future life. The courses out there out sometimes too hard for some adults with a disability and the help not sufficent. They go on from one course to the next but never qualify. The goverment thinks they are giving them a lot of help but they don't know the reality.
I believe in Education and I don't feel that it is my daughter's mind but the way she was taught. I am frightened for her future and how she will manage on low wages without her parents to help. Others are in worse position then my daugher but it is wrong for any person with a disability to live as they do. I urge the government to help the children and adults wih a disability of UK.

This really is a odd business. As far as I know, you can ONLY sell to the Saudi Government via an agent. No agent, no contact and no sale. So, BAe or, anyone else who sells, ends up paying the agent???s fees. Is that corruption or just normal business practise?

In the UK I suspect we would probably say yes, but in lots of countries, usually south and east of the Mediterranean, it is the normal way to do business. Of course, not anyone can be the agent, so there are ways and means to ensure that the ???correct??? agent is used for a particular task. Corrupt by our standards, probably yes By theirs, no, as that is the way is has always been done and will be done.

So, unless Bae has corrupted a UK official to gain permission to sell some very advanced military hardware to the Saudi Government , then all that they have done so it appears, is do what everyone else has to do to carry out any dealings and sales to that Government. That is, go via an agent and pay the commission demanded so as to get the sale.

The question of corruption or not, is an issue for the Saudis to resolve. Either ending the farce of the middlemen so common in that part of the world or, have sorted out the price and commission in a form more comprehendible by those who will see it from outside are both solutions that if applied to this would have ended the story.

I have not read that anyone in Saudi is surprised or unaware that a commission was being paid and the choice of the aircraft was by them, not forced on them. Quite why anyone here is so surprised at the payments is a surprise to me.

Perhaps a little research into other suppliers of any items for the Saudi Government or other ones in that area, would have been a wise move and put this whole affair into context.

To pursue BAe would just seem to be penalising the UK for everyone else???s benefit.

Dear Menzies,
I am writing to support your efforts to retain the Cupar Driveing Test Centre.

My daughter has just passed her theory test with flying colours but now faces having to drive 15-20 miles before she can even begin to practice the routes she will have to drive for her practical testn in Dundee or Kirkcaldy. At a time when petrol is running at ??1.10 a litre this is ecinomically punitive, and bad for the environment.

It's not just the inconvenience of taking a test in an unfamiliar town, it's compounded by having to drive there repeatedly to practice for the test.

I applaud and support your efforts to keep the Cupar Driving Test Centre open.

Though a Lancastrian living near London I regularly visit Leven and the surrounding area for the wonderful golf courses and scenery. I fully support Sir Ming and his efforts to reopen the Leven railway. It would do wonders for the town and the local economy. With the rail track still being in place its such a cost effective solution and reap enormous benefits to all.

Perhaps he might also consider knocking down the power station and buliding the station in its place? The power station of course being the only eye sore in such a wonderful area.
Good luck with your efforts - a very worthwhile cause!

With a by-election coming up in Fife surely that other famous Fife MP; whatisname - Gordon someone, might gets some votes if he agrees to the proposal?
