North East Fife Liberal Democrat MP Menzies Campbell is continuing to fight against the closure of the Cupar Driving Test Centre and has again written to Jim Fitzpatrick the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport to press the case for keeping it open.

Menzies Campbell said, “The Minister has informed me that the Cupar Test Centre will close on 30th September 2008 but I am not prepared to accept this without a fight.

“I have called on the Minister to review this decision and to carry out an up-to-date examination of local circumstances which in my view more than justifies keeping the Cupar centre open.”

    Dear Menzies,
I am writing to support your efforts to retain the Cupar Driveing Test Centre.

My daughter has just passed her theory test with flying colours but now faces having to drive 15-20 miles before she can even begin to practice the routes she will have to drive for her practical testn in Dundee or Kirkcaldy. At a time when petrol is running at £1.10 a litre this is ecinomically punitive, and bad for the environment.

It’s not just the inconvenience of taking a test in an unfamiliar town, it’s compounded by having to drive there repeatedly to practice for the test.

I applaud and support your efforts to keep the Cupar Driving Test Centre open.

If you can pass your test in Cupar you can drive anywhere so it should be kept open . Cupar is small town with more traffic lights than people.. It’ll take you 15 minutes to drive the two miles, courtesy of the Liberal local cooncil. Thanks Menzies, no wonder you live in Edinburgh where the traffic problem is less annoying.
