North East Fife MP Sir Menzies Campbell reiterated his view that the two aircraft carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, should be built.
Speaking to Liberal Democrat supporters, Sir Menzies said:
“Aircraft carriers have a great deal of flexibility and can adapt to widely varying military challenges. They can also make an enormous contribution to humanitarian and relief operations.
“Ship building capability is vital for our long term national interest and when this is allied to the military requirement, the case for the carriers is overwhelming.â€
