Speaking amid unconfirmed reports that the Ministry of Defence is seeking further savings from the Armed Forces next year, senior Liberal Democrat MP and member of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee Sir Menzies Campbell said:
“If these reports are true they will make grim reading for our Armed Forces. By a remarkable irony, they have emerged on the same day as the Defence Secretary is announcing better terms and conditions for those who serve in the military.
“The best possible provision in a new military covenant would surely be certainty of continuing employment.â€
