Sir Menzies Campbell MP has recently made the UK Government aware of a new email scam, which claims to be from the Government’s Directgov’s Money, Tax and Benefits team.
The scam, which offers everyone money back on taxes they have paid, requests that you click on a link within the email to complete a form and appears to come from Helps@directgov.gov is titled, “UK Government Helps You”.
Commenting Sir Menzies said:
“There are huge amounts of email scams in circulation and one which appears to be from the Government mentioning the potential for money back undoubtedly looks appealing.
“I have alerted the Government to this specific scam which was sent to me the other day and they have duely posted a warning on their website www.direct.gov.uk. I very much hope that no one is lured in by this malicious email.â€
