Following consideration of the Fife Structure Plan by the Scottish Government and the announcement of a period of consultation when the Government will consider objections to its proposed modifications, North East Fife Liberal Democrat MP Menzies Campbell said “At long last we appear to be moving towards the finalisation of the Fife Structure Plan, but several of the principle proposals still remain controversial.
“It is a great pity that the Scottish Ministers have ruled out any question of an Examination in Public. Such a procedure would allow those members of the community who still have reservations to express them before an independent Reporter.
“Transparency and public participation would both be served if this were the caseâ€.
