Liberal Democrats Leader Menzies Campbell, commenting on the local election result in Northampton where the Liberal Democrats took control of the council with nine gains, said:
“Congratulations to the Liberal Democrat team. This tremendous result is a testament to all the hard work of the Liberal Democrat group over the last few years.
“It is clear that the local residents felt that only the Liberal Democrats could lead the council and deliver a safer, fairer and greener Northampton.
“This gain shows that the Liberal Democrats are going from strength to strength in Northampton and will now begin work improving council services and delivering real change to the community.”
